Hi there! I'm Stanley Yao. I'm a Chinese living in Seattle Washington, with walk distance to the beautiful Lake Union and Green Lake. I'm having a hard time separating my work and life, because software programming is also one of my hobbies. Fortunately, I also like playing drum, swimming, playing Ping Pong, watching Science Channel and ESPN. Being a pilot, an astronaut, or a musician is my childhood dream. I read tons of books in plane design and space, which caused me to wear eye glasses. I used to play drum every day for 2 years back in high school, but then I was banned by the teachers. Anway, none of my childhood dreams came true, and I ended up being a software engineer now. But I'm very happy, because computer and technology today is just amazing.

I did a lot of system level work before like OS kernel and DBMS core. So C is the programming language I had the longest experience. Then my focus was switched to distributed database applications, where I developed my skills in C++, Java, SQL, and XML. Recently, I'm exploring in the search engine, web application, web service, and user experience. This field is not pure computer or software anymore. It's more about the power of human as a computing resource besides being the consumer. This is impressive!
